I attended the second round of the North Division of the RC Pro series this past weekend. It was held at Fort Dodge RC in Fort Dodge Iowa. It was my first time at this facility and I was really impressed with the track layout, size and area, it was really well done. The coolest part of this track was the attention to water drainage. Friday and Saturday nights the track was hit pretty hard with storms, but within about an hour of sunlight the track was totally dry and run-able again, it was awesome!! For the event there was a little light turnout of about 80 entries, I think the rain scared some people from attending. We got all four rounds of qualifying done on Saturday, with TQ's going to myself for winning all four rounds in buggy and second went to teammate Kendall Welch, and truggy TQ going to Kendall Welch also. On Sunday we were welcomed with some unexpected rain in the morning that would last about all day, so they canceled the mains and just went off of qualifying order. Overall I enjoyed this facility very much and meet a lot of new people, and will most likely be back for a cash race that they will be holding next month.
Ricardo Monteiro, who uses the DX3R and Spektrum servos, won the race, achieving a great result for Spektrum who is the European B Champion and Junior Champion.
I was given a Spektrum DX3R from the first run in December 2007. I have used the DX3R at least once a week since then.
The DX3R is very easy to program and I have 10+ models on it now. I never have to worry though, as the DX3R's 'Model Match' feature ensures I never accidentally run the 'wrong' model.
It is very light and comfortable to hold, especially for those long nitro mains.
Since I started using the DX3R I have won three ROAR National Titles. When I won these titles they dumped a cooler filled with ice cold water on me and my DX3R and it is still running perfectly!
I am very happy with the DX3R and recommend it to other racers often.
Being an older racer my reflexes just are not what they used to be. The Spektrum DX3R has put me back in the winners circle! With its super fast speed and lightweight, it gives me the edge that I need to win races.
Off-road or Dirt Oval, I know I can always count on SPEKTRUM!
I used the new Spektrum DX3R for the entire year in 2008 racing 1/8 nitro on-road and had not one single issue, glitch, or failure. The new DSM2 technology responded quickly and perfectly to my input and I couldn't be happier with the incredible results from the DX3R..... I attended the Gulf Coast Grand Prix, Capitol Classic, Great Lakes Challenge, and ROAR Nationals..... and brought home three TQ's and three wins, including the TQ and win at the ROAR National Chamionship. Thank you Spektrum!
Since joining the Spektrum team I have had alot of great success. With the help of Spektrum and my other sponsors I was able to win the 2008 IIC 17.5 1/12th Championship as well as the Cleveland Indoor Champs 17.5 1/12th title. My DX3R radio with DSM2 gives me super fast response which makes it easier to drive my car with more precision and consistency which has been a huge benefit for me. Thanks again Spektrum.
I think every racer can agree that Spektrum is truly one of the greatest innovations to hit our hobby. More recent racers have probably never even seen a frequency clip board because it is already that wide spread. With running a gas car, one of the first things that I really enjoyed and appreciated about the new technology was the fact that I could turn my radio on in the pits any time for engine tuning, linkage adjustment, ect in which is a huge benefit from the times of radio impound and possible frequency conflicts.
May 08, I switched from a 3PK w/ Spektrum modual to a DX3R in which I then realized further what I was missing when I started using the radio at the lowest latency setting of 5.5 mls. There is no going back now as the feeling of "connection" you get from the fastest response rate available in any radio is simply unmatched! Thanks Spektrum!
Obviously the first benefit has been not having to wait for open frequencies when running our cars, making practice much more productive by not wasting time waiting for an open clip. The Model Match feature has also been a huge benefit at events where we are competing in several classes with different cars. If I forget to switch models there is no fear of having a runaway and destroying my equipment. The speed of the new DSM2 is also truly amazing. This has been a real advantage on high-speed switchbacks and chicanes. This allows me to actually drive the car through these maneuvers instead of being "behind" realtime and having to predict how the car will react in these situations. DSM2 frame rate speed has really just given me a more direct connection with the car and to be more precise in driving allowing me to shave that precious 10th's of a second off my lap times. These benefits have given me and other Spektrum DSM2 users a noticeable advantage over our competitors with the conventional systems.
My DX3R is awsome! The feel and performance are second to none. Super light for long races with no fatige and radio glitches are simply a thing of the past. The 4 AA lithium batterys I use seem to last forever and the small SR3100 reciever is super light and small enough to fit all of my vehicles. Progamming radios can get complicated, but with the DX3R's roller wheel and pushbutton, proramming is quick and easy.
This is by far the best radio I have ever used.
The Dx3r is by far the best radio I have ever owned. It is extremely easy to use, and all the functions are at your fingertips instead of buried in a sub-menu of a sub-menu somewhere.
Owning a Spektrum radio has set my mind at ease both at large races and at practice nights, because I know there's no possibility of ever getting interfered with. Also, when I change end points or mess with my throttle curves, the menus give the most clear, visual representation of what I'm changing, unmatched by any other radio manufacturer.
The Dx3r is also the most comfortable radio I've ever held. After a 45-minute A-main it's nice not to have a sore wrist, especially when I have to race another long main right after I'm done.
While at the track the question often arises, "Why are you using the DX3R when you were a loyal user of a different brand for many years?" The answer is easy, "Control". There has to be a connection between the radio and your senses in order to maintain control of the cars at the speeds they are traveling these days. From the first time I used the radio and picked up a lap at my local track just by changing radios I realized I had found a performance advantage worth the investment.
Since I mainly run dirt oval on loose dirt tracks its nothing to have the front wheels turning as much to the right as left during a race in order to maintain a four wheel slide on the power without spinning out or pushing to the wall. The DX3R allows me run much closer to the edge because I have a much better feel for what the car is doing. Its almost like I am behind the wheel due to the speed of the DSM2 programming. If you dont have that "behind the wheel feel" try a DX3R today.
Ever since the Spektrum technology came out a number of years ago I was an early adopter of the technology. Once I made the change, and as the products evolved I continued to go back to my FM systems to baseline the response and performance. At every step I felt more connected to my cars and enjoyed more reliable performance than the FM systems. Even as other radio manufactures who didnt have spread spectrum technology doubted the technology, I stuck with it. I feel like it has been a big advantage in race conditions, and the convenience of not having to wait for my channel or swap crystals has translated to more time on the track during precious practice sessions.
